We
started our programs in this seaside village in 2005. About
15 miles out to see is a tiny key where 3 deaf people live,
and in Nueva Armenia we’ve located 4 deaf. Because of
the ordinary demands of their daily lives, typically we only
have 2 deaf people attending our programs…but a difference
is being made! Normally there is upards to 40 hearing people
attending our programs. The community is embracing sign language
and instead of ridiculing the deaf, they are becoming involved
with them. Our hope is that a teacher for the Deaf or a missionary
to the Deaf will also arise from this group.
