| Our
Vision |
| To
evangelize, disciple, and church the rural, disenfranchised
deaf in developing nations. |
| |
| Our
Mission |
| To
bring language and community to the deaf in rural villages of
developing nations, while spreading the Gospel message and training
deaf leaders. |
| |
What?
We work with deaf and hearing nationals to equip them to become
self-sufficient in training, teaching, and providing practical
support to their deaf population. For further description of
what we do, please see the honduras
programs page. |

Why?
Imagine not knowing how to read and write; you can only communicate
with a handful of people, and your vocabulary is limited to
25 words. You want to go to school to learn, but nobody who
knows you realizes that you can learn, so you are forgotten
and discarded. You're treated as if you are without intellect,
and you are not allowed to marry the person you choose, to drive
a car, or to vote. You may be physically or sexually abused.
You are disenfranchised, a product of your community's lack
of awareness.
This is the reality for hundreds of thousands of deaf people
in developing nations. Many of these deaf people do not even
know how to write their own name. They haven't had the opportunity
to learn. They have not heard the Gospel message. Many are living
and dying without hope. |
