We started our programs in this seaside village in 2005. Typically we have 7 deaf people attending our programs in this village…and a difference is being made! Normally there are upwards to 40 hearing people attending our programs. The community is embracing sign language and instead of ridiculing the deaf, they are becoming involved with them. Our hope is that a teacher for the Deaf or a missionary to the Deaf will also arise from this group.  The main people group in this village is the Garifuna.  They are
a beautiful people, originating from Africa.  They have their own language and customs.  This is one of our most captivating villages.
